Medical Testimony for SANEs (1-Day Training)

Course Description

This interactive, one-day training equips Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) and other medical professionals to provide confident, credible courtroom testimony in child abuse and sexual assault cases. Through mock trial exercises, legal instruction, and expert-led discussions, participants learn how to clearly communicate medical findings, navigate cross-examination, and understand their role within the broader legal process.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand the medical professional’s role in the legal process, including how testimony fits within the anatomy of a criminal case.

2. Prepare for effective courtroom testimony, including strategies for direct and cross-examination and presenting medical findings in a clear, accessible manner.

3. Build confidence and clarity on the stand through hands-on mock trial exercises and expert-led discussions on current testimony challenges.
