
Tamara Somerville
Biography
Tamara Somerville is a passionate advocate for social change with a deep commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. Originally from Costa Rica, Tamara earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising before shifting her focus to nonprofit work. Over the years, she has accumulated extensive experience in event coordination, social media management, and, most importantly, advocacy, empowerment, and social services.
She began her nonprofit journey at a young age, volunteering and later holding key roles in organizations dedicated to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. In 2016, she moved to Southwest Florida where she worked directly with survivors, supporting them in rebuilding their lives. Tamara’s expertise spans six years of frontline advocacy and management experience in various roles, including Youth Development Advocate, Emergency Shelter Supervisor, Child & Youth Services Manager, and Hotline Manager. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of the complexities surrounding abuse and the importance of creating safe, supportive environments for survivors.
Now based in Minnesota, Tamara is thrilled to bring her skills and passion to Zero Abuse Project, contributing to initiatives aimed at protecting children from abuse and fostering positive change in the community.
