It’s Not Just Pictures: Child Exploitation & Sextortion Investigations for MDTs

Course Description

The presentation will explore how online child sexual exploitation incidents have evolved from “just pictures” into the investigation of child sexual abuse material. All members of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), often tasked with the protection of children, must equip themselves with the latest and innovative training to ensure the safety and protection of all children within their community. Because online child sexual exploitation cases are increasing on a global scale, the presentation will focus on the current statistics, case studies, and discussions pertaining to new trends observed during current investigations. The audience will also learn how to gain information from a variety of reporting sources, the importance of preserving the digital crime scene, partnerships with MDT members to improve engagement with victims, and how to properly identify and investigate one of the worst forms of online child sexual abuse in today’s society, sextortion.
